Cleaning up..

Image
Friday nite, we had a deep cleaning session of our kitchen under the chief executor, my hubby dear. He is one person who takes his mission on spot with delaying once decided. All the crockery & other utensils were remove from cabinets, empty bottle were all put for washing, All spice, cereal & pulses bottles were on the outer dining table, while a pesticide was getting rid of unwanted guest at kitchen. I had confirmed that I our maid would surely cum the next day to clean up the kitchen area and all the empty bottle. But my bad luck, she couldn't make it, her daughter had terrible fever....blame it on this non stop pouring we have been experiencing for almost 3 weeks now! So my poor hubby cleaned all the cabinet and wiped up the shelf, while I refilled all my utensils and container. Just as we were doing that, our vicar called up informing that our Bishop, would be visiting home in an hour. Oh life can be so unpredictable! Then was a rush hour, with cleaning, moping

We, here at the St Mary's Syrian Orthodox Church  were blessed abundantly by the good lord to have the presence of his Grace Metropolitan Pulikkottil Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios amidst us for the Youth meeting on 12/08/2012. One of our brethren asked his grace to elaborate on the feast of Sunoyo, ie bodily assumption of Mother Mary to heaven.  Just a brief about the feast held on 15th August: The Fast before the Migration of Virgin Mary the Mother of God             This is one of the traditional fasts observed in all the Eastern Churches. A feast in commemoration of the Mother of God was celebrated in the East as early as fourth century. Later this was identified as the migration of the blessed Virgin and it came to be called the feast of Sunoyo (Migration) of the Mother of God. This fast starts from the first day of August and ends with the Sunoyo feast on the fifteenth day. This is the time for the faithful to prepare themselves for their death becaus

Mission lampshade!

Image
This is how my current lampshade looks like, not so clean of course, it has stain of white paint on it and is much more worn out. So I did some surfing to find out if I could myself change the shade cloth.  And bang! I can... So this weekend mission is to try out changing the lamp shade covering. All I would need is a nice piece of vintage cloth. Good pair of scissors to cut paper and fabric Spray adhesive, craft glue, or fabric glue And I am planning use a nice lace that I have in stock, for the edges! Now how do I wait till weekend...? Update: The weekend was really hectic, didn't find time to completely finish my mission Lampshade, however I did initiate the process: Old cloth removes, structure cleaned, measurement drawn on paper & paper cutting done...now what remains is, find a perfect cloth for the shade (i know the most important part!)

Option

Image
" When Someone treats you like an option, help them narrow their choices by removing yourself from the equation ." We (that includes me too!) must always remember that, anyone who ask us help to perform a certain task that is routinely done by them; then that request of help is not because they are lazy or cannot handle the task. However its simply because they want to ease their burden & stress. In such a scenario, especially ones loved by them shouldn't make it a point to make them feel that by easying their burden we are doing a favor on them.

Today!

So many things happen for Good in our life and we don't realize it at all!

For all the new parents..

Image
I came across this post and what a lovely insight was it to find this at this phase of my life: Here are some things yelling does teach our children: 1. It teaches them that I don't mean what I say until I yell. 2. It teaches them to yell when they want something accomplished. 3. Yelling teaches kids to ignore polite requests. 4. It teaches them that yelling is an appropriate way to relieve stress. 5. Sooner or later, the kids will ignore the yelling and when we really need their quick attention (emergency, danger, etc.) we won't be able to get it. 6. Yelling teaches kids that they don't deserve the respect of being talked to calmly. 7. It teaches our children to respond out of fear. pleas do read through the entire post here ! I'll surelly keep these pints in my mind wile dealing with my liltle one .

To do list!

Image
I have realized that there are certain on priority tasks to be taken up in my house before our new little member comes in and a family gathering for an important occasion due to happen. Though There is ample amount of time for both the events, I don't want to have final moment rush and a big financial bill, hence slowly and steady I shall accomplish the following: Updating on all the framed photographs in the house.  Selecting some new pics for the frames. Buying new bed spreads for all my beds. New faux flowers for my vases. New Sofa spreads & table spreads. New Floor mats. Repair of Certain Furniture. Re-arrangement of certain area to make more space. Some nice colored lite curtains. And finally my personal touch in all my rooms .

A little Cleaniness..

Image
Now with my nesting instinct at its peak, I am full on with deep cleaning. And the after feeling of this cleaning is awesome! Yesterday while leaving home in hurry, I tried hard to find my cell and my door key, then at the door, I saw some dust peeping through my glass shelf. I hadn't realized that, i made a mental note about all this event; however, when I was back I unintentionally unpacked and organized my hand bag and my little pouches: 1st one carries my little makeup and face wash, 2nd one has my keys, sanitizer and wipes, while the 3rd has some cash and Id cards (I am taking tips from the author of "http://charmingthebirdsfromthetrees.blogspot.in/").  Later while my bath water warmed up, I had a nice cleaning session of my shelf and rearranged my shelf belongings. And wow, was I not beaming with joy!

Color & Class to my life on my Bday :)

Thank you to wonderful people, who took time to show that they remember me in their course of life!!!

Journey of a girl.

Image
From my childhood, i use to think that I was my papa's and mama's angel. No sooner did I get my sisters, I re-designated myself as their guardian, adviser, friend, partners in crime etc etc. Then came my college life and working life, wherein I became roommate and close friend to my friends. After marriage, my God! should I say I had a rapid change in my shades of life. From wife -->daughter-in-law-->sister-in-law-->aunty-->and most beautiful of all a MOTHER! In all the phases, we ladies have taken responsibilities and have ascertained that we accomplish them to our best. I am constantly asking almighty to bless all  with the grace, love and patience to carry forward all our duties and undertake new ones on my way of life!  Amen.

Beauty of Life

Image
Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly father feeds them.  Are you not worth much more than they?  And which of  you by being anxious can add a single cubit to his life span? And why are you anxious about clothing?  Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that even Solomon in all of his glory did not clothe himself like one of these. But if  God so arrays the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more do so for you, O men of little faith?  Do not be anxious then, saying, "What shall we eat?" or "What shall we drink?" or "With what shall we clothe ourselves?" From the Holy Bible
