Its a boy!

Image
I know it a little too late to put down here that,we have been blessed with a baby boy whom I intend to call "muffin". Oh, but it was so much of rush...I am getting back with reality slowly. Talking about muffin, he was a tiny little fellow when born, though now is gaining weight steadily. Its gonna be a month today for him. Thanking god endlessly for the blessing and for getting him safely to us. Maple has not boundaries to her joy. She is all gleaming. Will shortly get back with the nursing and caring experience after a good long 5 years soon!

Octobers here!

Hoping & Praying... Yea, I am hoping for a relaxed month with a lot of nesting experience, it gives me so much joy to do cleaning and making new stuff.  I am praying for my safe delivery and a healthy child. God give me the strength to get the baby safely to this world you have prepared for it. Before I go on I have decided to name my sweet kids with blog names: so my daughter is gonna be called Maple & expecting baby would be called baby as for now. Last week was a roller coaster ride for me. As mentioned in my previous post, I have cleaned the entire ground floor off cobweb and dust. Washed all my bed sheets. Maple's visit to Dentist. Organized a sudden dinner for ma sister's family. It was nice to have kids and oldies at home together. Yesterday I organized  Maple's & my wardrobes. And also enjoyed a cool movie & lunch with family. Thing to do before the our tiny baby comes: Pack bags for baby & Mama Tag things in kitche

Oh where are the days flying?

Image
My God! Have you shorten the days, or are seconds tricking more quickly! All I know is that it becomes morning, then a rushy day, and cling it bedtime! September is blowing off like a storm; in another 5 days, its gone. Am I feeling it cause I am due next month? or was it really that fast. Last week was a long vacation, rested thoroughly, went through an active nesting mania- I pulled out all the curtain in my house and washed them till they were spotless. Let me share a recipe of washing here, especially for curtains that have been neglected for more then 2-3 months: 1. Hot water 2. washing powder 3. vinegar 4. washing soda (optional) 5. Vanish liquid/powder Method: After making sure that the color on your curtain won't leave them easily, fill a bucket of hot water and add all the above ingredient. Soak in your curtains and leave over nite. In the morning a quick brush in the dirtiest section and little scrub all over the clothing. Finally rinse the cu

A Day from my life.

Woke up at 7.00AM (don't judge me, i am a pregger with very lil sleep:( ), made some fresh rotis from the dough made by my hubby. He really helps me a lot! Packed my and makku's tiffin. Off we left by 9.15 to our respective destination, hubby & me for work & makku to school. Work at office was dull, majorly because of my back ache, it has been hurting me for some time now. Finally was at home by 6.00 P.M. Had an unplanned trip to the town, to purchase a baptism gift for a new born, One more member entering into the orthodox faith tomorrow. Came back all tired, but was happy to have a friend visiting our home. Spoke to her for a while and den started preparing dinner, As promised to myself that I shall have a feminine touch to all my days, I prepared some fried chicken with butter and coriander . After a refreshing bath , we ate a tasty dinner by 9.30 and headed to a good nite sleep! Hoping to sleep like my baby..:)

Oh what a start!

Image
Monday started with a bang! I woke with a plan for the day. As most of the cooking was already done the previous nite, all this gonna be beautiful mom :)  did was reheating and preparing a side dish. I made a quick dish out dill leaves (my baby loves it). We had been confirmed by the coordinator, about our Mar Alvares Youth Fellowship Meet at 7.30 P.M. , so I was looking forward for the later part of my day. However office couldn't be avoided, had some important task to be completed. Once at office, I straight away attacked all my priority work and by noon I was done. I could say that I work rather engrossed cause, i had a bad back ache by the time I had finished. Back was so bad that I couldn't sit for a minute. Hence, arrange to rush home and have a quick rest before the fellowship meet. My sweety was waiting for me to arrive at home, we had a small cat nap and then woke up fresh. Hubby returned early too, so without wasting much of time we ran to get our mont

Sat & Sun

Since we had our feast mass on Friday itself, we or should I say myself, i had a pleasant and peaceful Friday nite sleep (Since its only me who'z having trouble sleeping at night, thanks to the last months' waiting to see my baby) Why do Weekend have just fly off? I didn't get time to do any crafting.... Day started at 9.00 on Saturday, with a lite breakfast and then cleaning, removed all unwanted paper and files from my shelf and had ample amount of space to keep in my hubby wandering stuffs, like his laptop bag, current files etc etc. We managed to get some fresh Mackerel, roasted the same for lunch. I indeed did some cooking han, we bought in some chicken, that was marinated and went straight into the refrigerator. Oh evening was fun, since I bought some faux flowers, a glass water jar, and sum maternity clothes for myself. Contented with the shopping done, i had a pretty nice sleep that nite too. Thank you God. Sunday was a big hurry... a rush to chu

Trusting!

Image
Since I am in a phase where expectation and hope and anxiousness co-exist in every minute I pass through, I decided to say a small prayer whenever I am troubled by my expectations and anxiousness. "My good lord, please help me to walk through the life you have chosen for me without any worry about future. Give me the strength to surpass all the unwanted thoughts that keep strolling through my mind and to trust you with all my heart. As promised by you, please guide me by instructing the correct path to be followed. Amen" All these thoughts just blur away with my prayer. I am so thankful that my god cares for me so much!

Nothings' cooking

Image
I wasn't in my best of mind to cook anything today. Thus had a lazy breakfast and planned to have lunch out. As I was craving for sum home made food, i decided that would get back a prepare something, but it turned out that there was no power supply due to heavy rains, so again was into the lethargic mood. My hubby looking out for a chance to make me feel good ordered for takeaway..And even my sweety pie enjoyed it!  I have though decided that no more lazying around, would be preparing seriously tomorrow.

Cleaning up..

Image
Friday nite, we had a deep cleaning session of our kitchen under the chief executor, my hubby dear. He is one person who takes his mission on spot with delaying once decided. All the crockery & other utensils were remove from cabinets, empty bottle were all put for washing, All spice, cereal & pulses bottles were on the outer dining table, while a pesticide was getting rid of unwanted guest at kitchen. I had confirmed that I our maid would surely cum the next day to clean up the kitchen area and all the empty bottle. But my bad luck, she couldn't make it, her daughter had terrible fever....blame it on this non stop pouring we have been experiencing for almost 3 weeks now! So my poor hubby cleaned all the cabinet and wiped up the shelf, while I refilled all my utensils and container. Just as we were doing that, our vicar called up informing that our Bishop, would be visiting home in an hour. Oh life can be so unpredictable! Then was a rush hour, with cleaning, moping

We, here at the St Mary's Syrian Orthodox Church  were blessed abundantly by the good lord to have the presence of his Grace Metropolitan Pulikkottil Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios amidst us for the Youth meeting on 12/08/2012. One of our brethren asked his grace to elaborate on the feast of Sunoyo, ie bodily assumption of Mother Mary to heaven.  Just a brief about the feast held on 15th August: The Fast before the Migration of Virgin Mary the Mother of God             This is one of the traditional fasts observed in all the Eastern Churches. A feast in commemoration of the Mother of God was celebrated in the East as early as fourth century. Later this was identified as the migration of the blessed Virgin and it came to be called the feast of Sunoyo (Migration) of the Mother of God. This fast starts from the first day of August and ends with the Sunoyo feast on the fifteenth day. This is the time for the faithful to prepare themselves for their death becaus

Mission lampshade!

Image
This is how my current lampshade looks like, not so clean of course, it has stain of white paint on it and is much more worn out. So I did some surfing to find out if I could myself change the shade cloth.  And bang! I can... So this weekend mission is to try out changing the lamp shade covering. All I would need is a nice piece of vintage cloth. Good pair of scissors to cut paper and fabric Spray adhesive, craft glue, or fabric glue And I am planning use a nice lace that I have in stock, for the edges! Now how do I wait till weekend...? Update: The weekend was really hectic, didn't find time to completely finish my mission Lampshade, however I did initiate the process: Old cloth removes, structure cleaned, measurement drawn on paper & paper cutting done...now what remains is, find a perfect cloth for the shade (i know the most important part!)

Option

Image
" When Someone treats you like an option, help them narrow their choices by removing yourself from the equation ." We (that includes me too!) must always remember that, anyone who ask us help to perform a certain task that is routinely done by them; then that request of help is not because they are lazy or cannot handle the task. However its simply because they want to ease their burden & stress. In such a scenario, especially ones loved by them shouldn't make it a point to make them feel that by easying their burden we are doing a favor on them.

Today!

Image
So many things happen for Good in our life and we don't realize it at all!

For all the new parents..

Image
I came across this post and what a lovely insight was it to find this at this phase of my life: Here are some things yelling does teach our children: 1. It teaches them that I don't mean what I say until I yell. 2. It teaches them to yell when they want something accomplished. 3. Yelling teaches kids to ignore polite requests. 4. It teaches them that yelling is an appropriate way to relieve stress. 5. Sooner or later, the kids will ignore the yelling and when we really need their quick attention (emergency, danger, etc.) we won't be able to get it. 6. Yelling teaches kids that they don't deserve the respect of being talked to calmly. 7. It teaches our children to respond out of fear. pleas do read through the entire post here ! I'll surelly keep these pints in my mind wile dealing with my liltle one .

To do list!

Image
I have realized that there are certain on priority tasks to be taken up in my house before our new little member comes in and a family gathering for an important occasion due to happen. Though There is ample amount of time for both the events, I don't want to have final moment rush and a big financial bill, hence slowly and steady I shall accomplish the following: Updating on all the framed photographs in the house.  Selecting some new pics for the frames. Buying new bed spreads for all my beds. New faux flowers for my vases. New Sofa spreads & table spreads. New Floor mats. Repair of Certain Furniture. Re-arrangement of certain area to make more space. Some nice colored lite curtains. And finally my personal touch in all my rooms .

A little Cleaniness..

Image
Now with my nesting instinct at its peak, I am full on with deep cleaning. And the after feeling of this cleaning is awesome! Yesterday while leaving home in hurry, I tried hard to find my cell and my door key, then at the door, I saw some dust peeping through my glass shelf. I hadn't realized that, i made a mental note about all this event; however, when I was back I unintentionally unpacked and organized my hand bag and my little pouches: 1st one carries my little makeup and face wash, 2nd one has my keys, sanitizer and wipes, while the 3rd has some cash and Id cards (I am taking tips from the author of "http://charmingthebirdsfromthetrees.blogspot.in/").  Later while my bath water warmed up, I had a nice cleaning session of my shelf and rearranged my shelf belongings. And wow, was I not beaming with joy!

Color & Class to my life on my Bday :)

Thank you to wonderful people, who took time to show that they remember me in their course of life!!!

Journey of a girl.

Image
From my childhood, i use to think that I was my papa's and mama's angel. No sooner did I get my sisters, I re-designated myself as their guardian, adviser, friend, partners in crime etc etc. Then came my college life and working life, wherein I became roommate and close friend to my friends. After marriage, my God! should I say I had a rapid change in my shades of life. From wife -->daughter-in-law-->sister-in-law-->aunty-->and most beautiful of all a MOTHER! In all the phases, we ladies have taken responsibilities and have ascertained that we accomplish them to our best. I am constantly asking almighty to bless all  with the grace, love and patience to carry forward all our duties and undertake new ones on my way of life!  Amen.

Beauty of Life

Image
Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly father feeds them.  Are you not worth much more than they?  And which of  you by being anxious can add a single cubit to his life span? And why are you anxious about clothing?  Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that even Solomon in all of his glory did not clothe himself like one of these. But if  God so arrays the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more do so for you, O men of little faith?  Do not be anxious then, saying, "What shall we eat?" or "What shall we drink?" or "With what shall we clothe ourselves?" From the Holy Bible

Enjoy my cooking. Garnish all the dishes that I set on the table Pack tiffin and off to work after a small prayer to almighty for a blessed day!

Just like a Child...!

Image
Dov Beer de Mezeritch was asked: “Which example should one follow? That of pious men, who devote their lives to God? That of scholars, who seek to understand the will of the Almighty? “The best example is that of the child,” he answered. “A child knows nothing. It hasn’t yet learned what reality is,” people commented. “You are all quite wrong, for a child possesses three qualities we should never forget,” said Dov Beer. “They are always joyful without reason. They are always busy. And when they want something, they know how to demand it firmly and with determination.”

God' Decision

Image
"Let's go to the mountain where God abides," said a cavalier to his friend. "I want to prove that all He knows how to do is to ask things of us, while he does nothing to provide us with relief from our burdens." "Well, I'm going there to demonstrate my faith," said the other. They arrived at the top of the mountain at night -- and they heard a voice in the darkness: "Load down your horses with the stones from the ground." "See?!" said the first cavalier. "After a climb like that, he wants to make us carry an even heavier burden. I shall not obey!" The second did as the voice had bidden. As he reached the foot of the mountain, it was dawn, and the first rays of the sun shone upon the stone that the pious cavalier had carried: they were the purest of diamonds." The master says: "God's decisions are mysterious; but they are always in our favor." from Paulo Coelho's- "Maktu
